"Waterloo, Iowa Mar 2, 1873 Dear Father I will just write you a l line that you may know I am well. And having a splendid trade my sales are beyond my expectations. In fact have never done better. We are having very cold weather though. And last week a bad storm that has delayed travel to a great extent. But am in hopes that it is nearly over and am looking for fine weather soon. Don't know as I have anything particular to say only if Charley stays at home and wants to put in some tobacco he can do so. By buying manure at a fair price. I told Dana I would pay his bill 1st of March. I neglected to arrange for it when I came away. see him and if he wants to use the money before I come home let me know and I will send it to him. You can write me care of Geo Dillingham Minneapolis Minn. Shall be there in about two weeks. With love to all your aff. son. S. Hovey"
