This is a beautiful antique jewelry box made of solid wood with ornate carved brass fittings. This piece is in excellent condition with a few minor scratches and signs of age. The velvet interior is in excellent condition. The doors and drawers open easily. This is an heirloom jewelry box, with incredible details made to stand the rest of time. The top features a Chinese character. If you know what this means, I would love to know. The sides feature brass handles with a classic Chinoiserie motif. The center brass latch opens to reveal a sumptuous red velvet interior with 6 large compartments and 12 ring slots. Beneath the top layer are 2 drawers which pull completely out. One drawer has a long compartment for bracelets or watches and 2 large compartments. The bottom drawer is one large compartment to use for anything you wish. This is a heavy solid chest - that is why the shipping charge is high. I’m guessing it is solid mahogany or rosewood based upon the color of the wood. It measures 14” long x 8” high x 9” deep.
