EXCEPTIONAL! Vintage Enameled Brass Cigar Box
ca. early 1900s from China
This splendid cigar box might be one of the most exceptional examples available! Made from a brass frame and painted in enamel, the level of detail on this box is breathtaking! A Royal blue background gives way to a highly intricate white and slate blue floral motif, with brightly colored accents at the corners. A solid lime green interior and base bring a spark and color not often seen in other enameled pieces.
This piece is signed on the base with “CHINA”, denoting it being an export piece. This likely dates to the early-to-mid 1900s.
CONDITION:
This box is in EXCELLENT condition. It has very few signs of use or wear, and the level of detail is highly preserved! There are two minor nicks to the edges: one on the front right and one on the back left. There is also an exceedingly minor spot of surface wear to a spot on the top. The inside of the box has some crazing to the top. Overall, these signs of age and use are exceedingly minimal and are either not very noticeable or blend in well with the pattern.
