    Description

Here is an opportunity to own a rare argillite Haida / Tlingit totem pole that was carved in the late 1800's.  The piece has a unique form being longer in depth compared to newer poles.  This piece came out of a Seattle estate and has not been cleaned or restored.  The carving style is similar to several that are in the Royal BC Museum on Vancouver Island, but you don't see many like this out of museums.
    Size / Weight:
    5.5 x 3.25 x 1.5
    1.75 pounds
    Condition:
There are what looks like faint water spots and the beak has the end portion missing. I considered having the beak restored professionally, but it's a beautiful piece as is.  On the underside of the carving you can see minor separation or striation of the stone.  There are carving marks, some scratches a nick in the base above the footing.
