Description
A wonderful aqua antique bottle with an applied lip. This is Hood's Sarsaparilla. The bottle is from circa 1880s. I dug this bottle in the late 1960's in Keyport, N.J. It would be an ideal addition to a pharmaceutical bottle collection.A must-have example for any eclectic bottle collection. The starting price is low so that a new collector can get a great bottle at a reasonable price. Please let the pictures serve as part of the description.
A little back story:
Charles Ira Hood founded the C.I. Hood & Co. of Lowell, Massachusetts in 1875. It was one of the largest patent medicine companies in the United States. In 1876, Charles began to make and sell his own sarsaparilla medicine. Within two years of launching his product, it was a great success. Hood's Sarsaparilla was sold as a Blood Purifier. It was supposed to cure Scrofula, Dyspepsia, Rheumatism, Catarrh, Loss of Appetite, and Feeling Tired.
